  • What types of assessments will be used?
Standardized tests are used and are chosen depending on your child’s age, academic concerns, and performance observations during the assessment appointment. Tests are available to measure academic skills and cognitive ability.
  • How long will the assessment take?
The amount of time for the assessment appointment will vary from two to four hours depending on the child’s age, academic concerns and observations during the assessment appointment.
  • When should I expect to receive results of the evaluation?
Results will be discussed, and a brief testing summary will be provided by e-mail following your child’s appointment. This initial report will include eligibility and recommendations to help you take the next steps to address your child’s needs, which may include a specialized curriculum. The education team at your child’s school will make the final decision regarding your student’s participation in specialized instruction, such as dyslexia intervention. We encourage you to share our written diagnostic report with educators at your child’s school. Public school educators must consider the evaluation results but are not required to follow the recommendations of LEAD or any outside diagnostic service.
  • How long will it take to get an appointment?
Unlike the public school system which requires student to participate in 6-8 weeks of classroom interventions, we can accommodate families immediately and forgo wasted learning. After contacting our office, we will set up a time to discuss your student’s needs and steps that will occur before the assessment begins. The parent and teacher questionnaires/forms will be e-mailed to you and must be completed before your child's appointment can be scheduled: Parent Questionnaire School Questionnaire
